Creativity has always been at the heart of LEGO. In 2019, the brand launched *“Rebuild the World,” its first global brand advertising campaign in more than 30 years*, built around one simple but powerful idea: encouraging children to use their imagination, creativity and problem-solving skills to see the world differently.
As the global campaign continued, one of its memorable creative projects was *“Unicorns,” directed by Oskar Bård and produced by Hobby Film*. Hobby Film’s own portfolio lists the LEGO project among Bård’s directing work.
For the *Istanbul production, Line Production Turkey provided local production services for Hobby Film*, supporting the project throughout its production process in Turkey.
The concept placed children’s imaginations at the center of the film. Rather than directing them toward a predetermined result, the production allowed them to create their own interpretations of a unicorn through LEGO, reflecting the wider philosophy behind Rebuild the World: giving children the freedom to build, experiment and imagine without limits.
Producing the project in Istanbul during the COVID-19 period required particularly detailed planning. With children involved in the shoot, health and safety procedures were a priority from preparation through production. Location coordination, recce planning, shooting logistics and on-set execution all had to be managed with precision while adapting to the unusual conditions of the period.
The production also demonstrated the importance of flexibility on set. When unexpected heavy rain affected the planned rooftop scenes, the shooting order was quickly reorganized. Interior scenes were moved forward, and once weather conditions improved, the team returned to the exterior setup. Careful preparation and fast decision-making allowed the production to continue without compromising the creative vision.
The wider Rebuild the World platform became a global celebration of children’s creativity. In 2020, LEGO unveiled a four-metre globe at LEGO House in Billund featuring creations from more than *430 children around the world. The installation took approximately 2,700 hours to build and used more than 350,000 LEGO bricks and elements*, reinforcing the campaign’s message of seeing the world through children’s eyes.
For *Line Production Turkey*, supporting Hobby Film on a global production of this scale reflects what international production service in Turkey is ultimately about: combining local expertise, strong logistics, adaptable crews and reliable execution with the creative expectations of international production companies.
From preparation to the final shooting day, the LEGO project remains a strong example of *Line Production Turkey’s production service capabilities in Istanbul* and its experience supporting international commercial productions in Turkey.
